Youth Size Adirondack Chair Downloadable Plan
Youth Size Adirondack Chair Woodworking Pattern
Muskoka Chair (Instant Download Plans)
Both of these chairs are reduced from the original Standard Adirondack Chair, shown on the left side, but constructed from 1/2" (13mm) cedar fence boards and brass screws. The proportionately curved seat and back allows your children the same comfort you get in the Standard chair, and gives them an opportunity to grow into the three available sizes.
The Youth sized plan measures 23 9/16"W x 29 3/4"D x 28 1/2"H (60cmW x 75.6cmD x 72.4cmH) One of our Customers made both chairs in teak and hickory ,for his grandsons.
The traditional curved top is shown above, but the plans also include patterns for the other back designs, scalloped and picket fence , as shown on the Standard Adirondack page. Plans also include pictures and dimensions of the taper sled I use on my table saw, to cut the back slats and back support pieces.
The downloadable instructions and templates are on Adobe Acrobat . The templates will print clearly for enlarging onto graph paper found at most office supply stores, or you can make your own with a roll of brown packing paper. Plans are in standard and metric dimensions.

Plans are as described in the ad. It is an easy task to transfer the plan to full size, using quad paper, 11x17". Once done to full size, they can be glued to 1/4" rigid board to make permanent, re-useable templates. Very satisfied with the product.
Ordered the child chair, cut two out, and THEN realized they wouldn't be big enough for the recipients (ages 3 and 5.5 years old). Ordered and built the youth size, and VOILA! The wee lad doesn't look like he's lost in it, and the elder has plenty of chair to grow into (or out of, as it will be). Pattern pieces fit nicely, and assembly instructions are clearly written. HIGHLY recommend (from actual use) the child and youth sizes, and I'm confident that the full-sized plan is of equal measure.
I purchased the youth size Adirondack chair and then made it. It went together well though there were a few mistakes in the plans and the front two seat slats are not comfortable and I will remedy this when I build the next one.
