All our Bear Woods dowel rods are kiln dried, clear, smooth, straight and accurately sized. Our one inch by thirty six inch doweling is made from high quality wood and American made giving these dowel rods a higher quality than those imported.
Shopping Tips for Made To Order Poplar Dowels:
1) Mix and Match "Box" quantities of any of our Maple, Oak, Cherry, Walnut, Hickory, Ash, Mahogany, Poplar or Teak wood dowel rods to obtain our best quantity price per box.
For Example: If you buy 1 box (any size) of say Maple, 1 box of Oak and 1 box of Cherry dowels for a total of 3 boxes you will get the lower 3 box price for each box ordered.
2) For different quantities or a combinations of sizes, contact us and we will do our best to help.
3) Our specialty dowels are made to order. Allow a lead time of 1 - 4 weeks. We accept returns of this non-stock item for defects in workmanship only. For faster shipping, contact us and we will see what we can do.
4) Poplar dowels are often inter-changed for shorter lengths and narrower diameters. Birch Dowels can be shipped faster, so consider exchanging them for your Poplar ones.

I have been purchasing the one inch poplar dowels for four years now. I usually find 10-20% of them are bowed and I cannot use them. This last batch arrived quicker than usual and had a higher percentage of bowed dowels. I am willing to work with them, but was a bit disappointed. The one week return policy is really not long enough as I'm dealing with deadlines and don't have time to figure it out and ship them back in that amount of time. Overall, though, I have been happy with the quality of the wood, there are very few knots and I get the correct order at a reasonable price. Also, the website is easy to use and the personnel on the phone are helpful and pleasant. Thanks for asking for feedback.

Tolerances are +/-0.01" on the diameter, and +/-1/32nd" on the length.
