1) Choose Your Axle Style and Size - use Axles Pegs with built-in hubcaps, or dowel rods with dowel caps from the selection below.
2) Choose wooden axles that are just smaller than the whole size of your wooden wheels for a free spinning wheel where the axle is glued in place, or choose a tight fit dowel with or without axle caps for assembly that has the axle spinning.
3) Choose a length based on the design of your project.
4) Use Bear Woods Supply Axle Peg AP-200 or AP-205 with this wheel.

These were the largest diameter treaded wheels I could find, and they seem solid (I haven't completed the project and handed it over to my two-year-old nephew yet).
The milling is fine everywhere except one spot - the hole for the axle. For each wheel I had to take a 3/8 drill bit and hand turn it in the hole to ream it out. It appears the holes were drilled from both sides (probably to limit tear-out) and came just shy of going deep enough to get a clean result.
Not a major chore to correct the flaw, but not a 5-star product if I have to finish production for them.

Excellent service, much better quality than expected, and will look really good on the toys I am making. Can't bear to paint them, but the end-user will want RED and is very firm on that point.
